I have been told the female jaw area is blue in color, where a males is a mixture of color. Not sure if its true, but there does seem to be some kind of pattern.

Would it be possible to get an explanation about how the newer morph of jacks has been created/obtained? The morph I am referring to is the Gold/Blue gene Dempsey.

    Thanks

I have a 8 inch long JD (he is huge!) in a ten gallon tank. He is doing great and has been a fun pet for 6 years. I know his tank is too small, but I am unsure what size to move up to. He has no tank mates. He ate everyone ever introduced in the 6 years. There have been dozens of fish buddies who became his lunch. Even bigger fish he ate slowly till they died. So what size tank woud you get him and should I try any more fish buddies?

You definitely need to buy a bigger fishtank before you try to add in any other fish. At 10 gallons, I’m sure he is miserable. If you want to try adding fish, you need at least a 55 gallon tank. Anything less is way too small. As far as other species go, talk to your local pet store.
